Salvation Army Camp

Significant Ecological Area / Biology Report
– Los Angeles County

In order to assess the potential impacts associated with the expansion of the Salvation Army Camp in the Santa Monica Mountains, Envicom Corporation undertook an inventory of the biological resources of a 300-acre parcel in the Malibu Creek area. The work scope included a complete analysis of the plant and animal life including rare, threatened or endangered species and preparation of detailed habitat and plant community maps. Consultation with local, state and federal agencies and the California Natural Diversity Data Base provided data for the project to proceed in a timely manner. Staff recommended mitigation and design measures that allowed the project to proceed through locating camping facilities to avoid biological impacts. The report was prepared pursuant to the Los Angeles County’s Significant Ecological Areas Performance Review Requirements.
