Fiber Optic Cable Installation Project
– Angeles National Forest

Envicom Corporation served as project liaison between Qwest Communications, Pacific Pipeline and the Angeles National Forest in securing Special Use Authorization / Construction Permits for the installation of 62 pull boxes and fiber optic cable in two vacant conduits over 19 miles of ANF lands. In this capacity and in negotiation with the ANF, Envicom Corporation prepared an operation plan, fire prevention plan, emergency plan, rehabilitation/revegetation plan and environmental assessment documents. All parties were concerned with minimizing potential environmental impacts within the project area and to the Old Ridge Route, (nationally registered historic place) in particular.

Environmental Monitoring During Construction: During the months of March through August, 2000, Envicom Corporation provided environmental and archaeological monitoring services for the fiber optic cable installation project. Envicom was responsible for monitoring to insure compliance with numerous ANF Special Use Permit stipulations intended to minimize potential impacts to forest resources. The subject of stipulations ranged from speed limits, disturbance limits, weather monitoring, fire prevention, circulation, vehicle and equipment weight limits, and cultural resource protections.
